TCS Sydney Marathon 2026

The TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS, part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, puts Sydney on the world marathon map alongside elite marathon cities including New York, London, Boston, Chicago, Cape Town, and Tokyo. More than 40,000 runners will take on the course, which passes through some of Sydney’s best-known spots, including Moore Park and Centennial Park before finishing at the Sydney Opera House. 

This year’s 42.195 km event will be held on Sunday 30 August 2026.

The Sydney Marathon will pass through Moore Park and Centennial Park, with runners entering Centennial Park from around 7 am. Temporary traffic and access changes will be in place across the parklands throughout the day.

Please note that all roads and vehicle gates in Centennial Park will be closed all day, with additional road closures around Moore Park and the Entertainment Quarter.

If you are visiting the area on Sunday 30 August, please read the frequently asked questions below for details on temporary access arrangements, which are different from previous years.

By the time runners reach Moore Park and Centennial Park, they are approaching the final stages of the marathon and will appreciate plenty of support. Spectators can cheer from locations throughout Centennial Park and Moore Park, with pedestrian access maintained at all times.

For entertainment and a family-friendly atmosphere, head to the spectator party zone opposite Centennial Homestead or the Driver Avenue Forecourt, opposite the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Centennial Park and Moore Park are included in the marathon route and will have operational changes in place all day.

For safety reasons, all roads and vehicle gates in Centennial Park will be closed all day on Sunday 30 August. Driver Avenue and Anzac Parade in Moore Park will be closed from 5 am to 3.30 pm.

Pedestrians can enter Centennial Park at any time. Until 4 pm, the park will be open to pedestrians only. From 4 pm, access will also reopen to cyclists and equestrians once event infrastructure has been cleared.
 

Centennial Park gates and roads
All vehicle gates and roads within Centennial Park will be closed all day.

Road closures around Moore Park
Driver Avenue and Anzac Parade will be closed from 5 am to 3:30 pm.

Other road closures and clearways
Extensive road closures and special event clearways will be in place across the Sydney CBD, including around Centennial Park and Moore Park. Check the following for detailed and up-to-date information:

Parking
No parking will be available in Centennial Park all day.

Mobility Pass holder access
There will be no vehicle access to Centennial Park for Mobility Pass holders all day.

Horse and rider access
There will be no equestrian access to Centennial Park until 4 pm.

The Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre can be accessed via Lang Road from Oxford Street and Moore Park Road. There will be no access from Driver Avenue or eastbound along Lang Road from Anzac Parade until 3:30 pm due to road closures.

Cyclists, rollerbladers and e-scooters
Cycling, rollerblading and e-scooters will not be permitted within Centennial Park until 4 pm.
 

Residents of Robertson Road, Martin Road, Oxley Lane and Dibbs Street will not be able to enter or exit these streets during the road closure period from 5 am to 3:30 pm. 

If you need to use your vehicle during this time, please park at the Entertainment Quarter. Managed vehicle access to the Entertainment Quarter car park will be available from the eastern end of Lang Road only. There will be no access via Anzac Parade or Driver Avenue.

The event organiser will offer reimbursements for parking costs where conditions outlined in the online form are met.

Please follow the directions of NSW Police and traffic controllers at all times.
 

Yes. Centennial Homestead, Spruce Goose and the children’s play areas will be open as usual, with pedestrian access only all day.

No. Cycle hire will not be operating on Sunday 30 August. The parkland is closed to cyclists until 4 pm.

Some localised sound impacts are expected during the event.

The event will be managed in accordance with all relevant legislation and guidelines for amplified sound at outdoor events. You can view the Centennial Parklands Noise Management Plan for more information.
