Permits, fees and applications
Commercial filming and photography require approval before the shoot. Each application is assessed individually, and submitting an application does not confirm a booking.
Before you apply
- review the filming and photography terms and conditions
- check the applicable fees and charges
- check whether you need to provide a risk assessment (PDF 4.40 MB)
- review the drone policy if your shoot involves a drone
- select your proposed location and prepare the required supporting documents
What you need to provide
Your application must include a current certificate of currency for public liability insurance (PDF 21.1 KB), with minimum cover of:
- $20 million cover for filming
- $10 million cover for photography
Depending on your production, you may also need to provide a location plan, production schedule, risk assessment or evidence of the production budget. Some activities may require separate approval from other government agencies.
Make an application
You must submit your application at least 7 business days before your proposed shoot date. More complex applications may require additional assessment time.
