Rules and safety

Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre is a busy working environment shared by horses, riders, clients, businesses and visitors.

Everyone has a role to play in keeping the equestrian centre safe and enjoyable. Please follow the conditions of entry, signs and directions from staff, and familiarise yourself with the information relevant to your visit.

Conditions of entry

Conditions of entry apply to everyone visiting Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre.

While at the centre:

• follow all signs and reasonable directions from centre staff
• stay within areas open to visitors
• take care around horses, riders and moving vehicles
• supervise children in your care
• do not feed horses
• respect the facilities and other people using the equestrian centre.

Centennial Parklands rules and regulations also apply when using the equestrian centre, horse track and other areas of Centennial Parklands.

Code of Conduct

The Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre Code of Conduct sets out the behaviour expected when using the centre, the equestrian grounds and horse track.

It applies to private clients, participants, licence holders and others taking part in equestrian activities at the centre.

The code helps:

• keep people and horses safe
• support respectful behaviour
• ensure facilities are used appropriately
• meet legal and regulatory requirements
• support safe use of shared areas.
   

Before you take part in equestrian activities

You must read the code of conduct and complete any required acknowledgement and approval process before taking part in equestrian activities at the centre or riding in Centennial Park.

Riding in Centennial Park

When riding in Centennial Park:

• stay on designated riding tracks and areas
• wear a helmet
• make sure your horse is properly saddled and bridled
• do not ride after dark
• do not lead a dog while riding
• do not gallop or canter outside designated areas.

Access to the equestrian grounds is restricted to approved users.

Safety around horses

Horses are large animals and can react quickly to movement, noise and their surroundings. Take extra care when walking through areas where horses are being led, ridden or cared for.

To help keep yourself, horses and riders safe:

• stay alert and give horses and riders plenty of room
• approach horses only with the permission of the rider or handler
• avoid sudden movements or loud noises around horses
• keep children close and supervised
• do not enter stables, arenas or other restricted areas unless authorised
• follow instructions from riders, handlers and centre staff
• never feed a horse.

If you're unsure, give the horse space and ask its rider or handler before approaching.

Health and emergency information

Emergency and evacuation

An evacuation plan is in place for Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre.

Workers, licence holders, clients and visitors should follow directions from staff in an emergency.
