About the centre

The Royal Agricultural Society moved to Homebush Bay in 1997 after 115 years at the site. The land then became part of Centennial Parklands under the care of the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust.

The centre opened to the public in June 1998 after more than $12 million was invested in upgrades. These works included new stables, heritage restoration and the construction of a 75 m × 40 m covered main arena. A roof was later added to the support arena.

Facilities for horses and riders

The centre can accommodate up to 196 horses. It includes 3 arenas, with 2 of these under cover, as well as a covered lunge yard, indoor and outdoor stables, wash bays, sand rolls and on-site float parking.

There are also 135 hireable stables, along with tack and feed rooms and other facilities to support horse care.

If you don’t own a horse, you can still take part. The centre has resident businesses such as riding schools, livery providers, equine therapy services and an on-site veterinary practice. 

Visiting the centre

The centre is open every day from 5 am to 9 pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You are welcome to visit and walk through the site.

For your safety and the safety of horses and riders, you must follow all rules and signs. You must not feed the horses.

Management and support

The on-site management team is available from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. The office is closed on weekends and public holidays.

Getting there

The centre is located at 114–120 Lang Road, Moore Park. The main entrance is on Lang Road, which you can access from Anzac Parade or from Moore Park Road and Oxford Street.

Equestrian grounds and horse track

Centennial Park includes a 3.5 hectare fenced equestrian grounds area for riders and private clients of the centre.

A historic 3.6-kilometre horse track connects the centre to the grounds. The track runs through tree-lined areas of Centennial Park and provides access for riding school park rides, pony leads and general riding.

All memberships include access to the horse track. If your horse is not stabled at the centre, you can still use the track by arranging access with centre management in advance. You will need to submit an application, provide any required documents and pay applicable fees.

Equestrian Grounds facilities

The equestrian grounds include 3 show jumping or general use arenas measuring 70 m × 40 m, 60 m × 40 m and 55 m × 30 m. There is also a dressage arena measuring 60 m × 20 m and a lunge arena measuring 30 m × 30 m.

The grounds also feature a wooded forest area, a turf hacking area and a 400 m canter track. The total arena area is 8,950 square metres.

Access and membership

Membership that provides access to the equestrian grounds is available to private clients who have a horse stabled at the centre. Riding school participants can also use the grounds as part of their lessons.
