Dagara.

Dagara means 'cold and frosty' in Dharug dalang or the Dharug language.

Garad, the black cockatoo, is a large, beautiful, and graceful bird with an unmistakable call.

As Garad move through the skies, you can hear their distinctive calls across the landscape.

If you are walking quietly on Gabrugal Yana, you might just spot Garad feeding on the seeds of the she-oaks or getting ready to nest in the hollows of the large old eucalypts.

Listen out for Garad on your walk as the black cockatoos are also known as the ears of Country – listening and communicating across the landscapes.
