Planting project breathes new life into Moore Park East
Moore Park East now offers a greener, cooler and more vibrant landscape, with extensive planting and landscaping improvements now completed around Kippax Lake.

Delivered between July and September 2026, the project is the latest milestone in the ongoing revitalisation of Moore Park East. Over the past 2 years, we have been transforming the precinct into high-quality, accessible open space for everyone to enjoy.
The completed works have enhanced the areas surrounding Kippax Lake with substantial new garden bed planting, fresh lawns and more mature trees, creating an inviting environment for walking, relaxing and connecting with nature.
Designed to strengthen the park's natural character, the new landscaping uses a diverse range of predominantly native species, including ferns, grasses, groundcovers and shrubs. Four distinct planting schemes were established across different light and habitat zones, featuring species such as bird's nest fern, blueberry lily, tea tree and grevillea.
The planting has already increased shade, improved visual amenity and contributed to a cooler, greener environment around the lake. As the landscape matures, it will provide valuable habitat for local wildlife while supporting biodiversity and long-term ecosystem health.
The Kippax Lake works form part of the Moore Park East Landscape Plan, developed through close collaboration with the community, stakeholders and First Nations peoples to ensure the area reflects shared aspirations for the future of the parklands.
With the final plants now in the ground, Kippax Lake is flourishing as a welcoming and resilient green space for current and future generations to enjoy.
