The NSW Government has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Inner West Council (IWC) to deliver a new harbour swimming spot along the Bay Run, located at the Iron Cove foreshore.
Designs for the tidal baths include an accessible pathway and ramp, and a generous fixed jetty, pontoon, and shark net.
The NSW Government has committed $2 million to the project, which was first identified in the Parramatta River Masterplan, prepared by the Parramatta River Catchment Group, in 2018.
IWC is leading the design and delivery of the project. IWC consulted on the concept design with the community in 2024. The Inner West Local Planning Panel approved the Development Application on 9 December 2025. Construction is expected to commence mid-2026 and is anticipated to take six months, with an opening in summer.
Greater Sydney Parklands is preparing a Callan Park Foreshore Master Plan to support the integration of the swimming spot with the waterfront of Callan Park which will be shared for community consultation in 2026.
